AWS is on purpose about involving every individual in each Day Services activity, whether they need a little help or a lot.
DAY SERVICES: MAKING THE MOST OF EACH DAY
At AWS, we believe that every person should be encouraged to be productive, inspired to learn and involved in his or her community. Through our Day Services program, we make this principle come to life through social, educational and skill building opportunities, as well as regular community participation — which includes volunteering and “giving back.”
Day Services participants enjoy exploring their communities by visiting parks, zoos, museums and other entertaining venues, as well as volunteering for community organizations in need. Though most services are community-based, most Day Services programs have a “home base” where clients learn skills such as cooking and money management and participate in activities such as sports, arts and hobbies.
The benefits of the program are profound. In addition to giving each person a more meaningful, well-rounded day, Day Services participants have made great strides in:
- Improving physical abilities
- Building social support
- Increasing self-reliance
- Enhancing self-esteem
Day Services is designed for individuals of all abilities levels. No matter the activity, participants enjoy meeting new people, making friendships and enjoying their community.
