Health, Safety and Respect: Foundation to all Services

Health, safety and respect provide the undergirding for all services
and decisions at AWS.

That is, we want the people we serve to have the best health possible, be safe in all activities, and be respected in all aspects of life, which includes respecting their dreams and potential.

David Ross, AWS Vice President, once explained this core tenet in this manner:

"Life is all about making choices and weighing risks. If we respect the people we serve, we afford them this normal process in life and help facilitate good decision-making. Many people we serve have very few voices in their life to help facilitate and advocate. Still others have dangerous and unhealthy influences. It is especially to the most vulnerable that we owe some imposed safeguards as it relates to health and safety, because we respect them."
