THE AWS MISSION

Founded in 1960, the mission of AWS is to help children and adults with disabilities live as independently as possible, be included in the community and function at their maximum potential.

Working as partners with people and their families, the corporation will concentrate
its resources in these areas:

• Identifying and creating vocational opportunities that lead to the greatest earnings and job satisfaction
• Developing living arrangements that emphasize independence and quality of life
• Creating programs that result in increasing numbers of people-to-people relationships that are of value to people with disabilities and able-bodied peers
• Searching for new opportunities to effectively deploy resources in pursuit of the corporation's human services value base

The scope of AWS

Today, AWS, formerly known as Anthony Wayne Services, serves more than 7,000 people in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico and Ohio, providing a vast array of services directly to people with disabiltiies. Additionally, AWS partners with government in various states to coordinate specific programs and providers.
