Supported Living
AWS has helped individuals move out of institutions or group homes into more private settings in the community. Some live on their own and others live with their families. The role we play differs according to the wishes of the person served.
Supported living allows people with disabilities to live with assistance, in a setting of their own choosing. Services are tailored to meet the needs of each person, whether that means being with them a few hours everyday to help with routine living skills or providing around-the-clock assistance.
For people who have been successful in their transition into a more independent lifestyle, AWS offers a semi-independent living program. Generally such individuals require just six to ten hours of personal assistance per week in their apartment or home. AWS provides a variety of services ranging from money management, health and safety issues to housekeeping, meal planning and other daily living interests. Assistance with financial planning, home ownership, medical and legal matters is also available.
AWS Supported Living is CARF (The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited. CARF is a private, non-profit organization whose duty is to promote quality services for people with disabilities. Accreditation means that AWS has met the highest standards set by rehabilitation professionals across the country.
