Camp Red Cedar
Camp Red Cedar is northeast Indiana's only therapeutic horseback riding and summer camp serving children with and without disabilities. Located in northeast Fort Wayne, the
57-acre facility includes a 10-acre lake and sandy beach surrounded by woodlands and meadows.
White fenced pastures line the long drive leading to the equestrian center which has a heated indoor arena and an outdoor arena. Nearby are cabins, and nestled in the woods are large platform tents that are fully accessible enabling campers of all abilities to experience the fun and adventure of summer camp.
Summer Camps
Summer camp programs offer a variety of week-long day camps for kids with and without disabilities from June through August. There is a residential adult retreat, too.
Campers enjoy water activities such as pontoon and paddleboat boat rides, canoeing, swimming, floating and fishing. Games, arts and crafts, singing, campfires and making new friends are all part of what makes summer camp special. And all of the camp's facilities are wheelchair accessible, including the pontoon and paddleboat.
One camper sums up his camp experience like this: "Thank you Red Cedar. It is the only place I have ever been where I can succeed on my own."

Riding Lessons
Camp Red Cedar offers horseback riding lessons for able-bodied riders and therapeutic riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities. Riding lessons in English and Western are available from May through August.
Riding is particularly beneficial for individuals with little or no mobility because the movement of a walking horse duplicates the "normal" movements made by an able-bodied person when walking. This movement helps to strengthen and build muscles in a more natural way that cannot be achieved through traditional physical therapy.
Horseback riding itself is a great accomplishment and can be psychologically uplifting. Along with raising self-esteem, therapeutic horseback riding provides much needed social interaction in a setting that is non-threatening.
Come join us for a summer full of fun at Camp Red Cedar!
