Group Homes
Your Extended Family at AWS
When you're faced with the decision that your loved one’s care cannot be provided at home, look to AWS group homes. Staffed and designed to accommodate a variety of needs, our homes reflect the warmth and comfort you'd expect in a home. We actually become an extended family for the children and adults we serve.
AWS owns and operates 19 group homes throughout Indiana.
All of our homes are situated in attractive, established
neighborhoods and are beautifully appointed with
comfortable furnishings. Fort Wayne has both children's
and adult
homes; adult homes are also located in South Bend
and North Vernon. Our capacity and licensing allows
us to serve individuals
with basic developmental needs as well as extensive
medical needs. Children's homes begin at age 6
and adult homes at 21 years of age.

Residents are given individual attention and support within the group setting, and encouraged to participate in household and community activities. Learning about personal care, community interaction and interpersonal relationships develop skills that are fundamental for enjoying life. Children attend school, get involved in community events and enjoy recreational and leisure time. Adults may attend educational day programs, volunteer and/or be employed in a workshop or the community.
Playing it Safe
Within the scope of living a full life, your loved one’s safety and security comes first. Each home is staffed with highly trained 24-hour direct care support, a nurse, social worker/QMRP and manager. Staff members are required to have CPR, First Aid and Core A and Core B medication training in addition to the extensive training necessary for their position.
All homes have a wheel-chair accessible van for safely transporting residents around town.
