Affordable Housing
One of the tenets of the AWS mission is about inclusion in society for people with disabilities. To that extent, AWS is committed to creating affordable housing opportunities for people who may not have the income earning potential to seek quality living accommodations.
Newburyport Apartment Community in northeast Fort Wayne opened in 1999. The 48-unit complex offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments for income-eligible families; 30% of the apartments are designated for people with disabilities. AWS provides a host of amenities and services for residents including training classes, educational opportunities, recreation and social activities.
A 96-unit multi-family complex, Time Corners Crossing Apartments, opened in 2002 on the southwest side of Fort Wayne. Apartments are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. On-site resident enrichment programs are also offered.
